About
Mezzo-soprano Sofia Vinnik joined the Oper Graz ensemble in the 2024/25 season, where she sang Dorabella in Così fan tutte and Hermia in A Midsummer Night's Dream. Upcoming season Sofia will give her debuts as Idamante in Idomeneo and as Octavian in Der Rosenkavalier there. Sofia was previously an ensemble member at the Vienna Volksoper, performing as Orlofsky in Die Fledermaus, Cherubino in Le nozze di Figaro, and O. Zelenka in the Nestroy Award-nominated world premiere of Lass uns die Welt vergessen. She began her career as a member of the Young Ensemble (JET) at the Theater an der Wien, where she portrayed Rosina in Il barbiere di Siviglia and Orphée in Orphée et Euridice. Further engagements have taken her to the Salzburg Festival, Musikverein Wien, Heidelberger Frühling, and the Schumannfest Bonn. Sofia was a finalist in the 2018 International Cesti Competition for Baroque Opera and received the young talent award at the Bundeswettbewerb Gesang in the same year.

Sofia Vinnik gives her successful "Dorabella" Debut in the new production of W.A. Mozart's "Così fan tutte" by Barbara David-Bruesch at Oper Graz.
"Sofia Vinnik is outstanding as Dorabella, not only caputring her witty and playful character but also filling the emotional lyrical arias with crystal clear tone, always finely balanced with a delicate yet profound timbre". - DAS OPERNMAGAZIN

[Sofia Vinnik's] voice had a pleasant volume and an alluring, velvety timbre paired together with a clear understanding of the text in every register.
